Meet the Flock

The personalities behind Beaird Farms

They lay the eggs, run the coop, stir up a little drama, and keep us laughing every day. Meet the chickens, ducks, quail, and occasional troublemakers who make Beaird Farms what it is. Some are sweet, some are bossy, some are broody, and every one of them has a personality all their own.

Meet The Team

Gertrude_edited.png

Gertrude

One of the original Beaird Farms characters and never short on personality. Gertrude has a way of putting herself right in the middle of whatever is happening, whether she was invited or not. She keeps the flock interesting and has definitely earned her reputation around here.

Wynona.jpeg

Wynona

Resident neighborhood watch captain. She has opinions about everything, tattles when something is out of place, and somehow always manages to be the last one into the coop at night.

Penny.jpeg

Penny

For a long time, Penny was the leader of the flock and the undisputed head hen. She kept everyone in line, held her place at the top of the pecking order, and helped set the tone in the coop. Even as the flock has changed around her, Penny still carries a little of that longtime-boss energy.

esther.jpeg

Esther

Our sweet, steady Barred Rock and one of the easiest girls in the flock to love. Esther is calm, cuddly, and wonderfully dependable, usually hanging out comfortably in the upper part of the pecking order without needing to make a fuss about it. She’s a bit of a peacemaker, easy to approach, and the kind of hen who just makes the coop feel settled.

Rosie.jpeg

Rosie

One of the sweetest girls in the flock and definitely one of the most talkative. Rosie has a gentle, friendly personality, but she also has plenty to say and is never shy about joining the conversation. She’s calm, dependable, and has a way of helping keep the peace when coop drama starts brewing.

Ginger.jpeg

Ginger

One of the original founding flock girls and easily one of the most photogenic. Ginger is sweet, gentle, curious, and always seems to know when the camera is pointed her way. She has a calm confidence about her and a definite appreciation for looking her best, making her one of the flock’s most recognizable personalities.

Vera.jpeg

Vera

Our observant Olive Egger who likes to keep just enough distance to do things her own way. Vera is curious, independent, and always watching what the other girls are up to, especially around the nesting boxes. She may not be convinced by everyone else’s routines just yet, but she’s definitely gathering information.

Florence Mae.jpeg

Florence Mae

Our Golden Star girl who started out “still learning” and quickly figured out exactly what the nesting boxes were for. Florence Mae gave us one of those tiny first fairy eggs before settling into her role as a dependable brown-egg layer. She has a quiet, watchful way about her, but once she decides it’s time to move, she’s all in.

Barbara.jpeg

Barbara

Our beautiful Easter Egger with a mind of her own. Barbara has never been afraid to take a break from production when she decides broodiness is more important, but once she snaps out of it, those blue eggs make their comeback. She’s independent, a little dramatic, and always keeps us guessing what she’ll decide to do next.

Violet.jpeg

Violet

One of our longtime flock girls and an Employee of the Week alumna, Violet has always had her own quiet place in the Beaird Farms cast of characters. With her soft lavender-gray coloring and calm presence, she tends to bring a little balance to the busier personalities around the coop. She may not demand the spotlight, but she has definitely earned her place in the flock story.

The Maran Sisters.jpeg

The Maran Sisters

Our trio of Black Copper Marans came to Beaird Farms together and have been inseparable ever since. They move as a little unit, quietly observing everything before deciding whether it’s worth getting involved. With their glossy dark feathers and matching expressions, telling them apart can be a challenge, but together they’ve become their own little sisterhood within the flock.

The Young Ones_edited.jpg

The Young Ones

Still growing into their personalities and their place in the flock, this younger group includes our Arctic Blue Easter Eggers and a few other up-and-coming girls. They’re curious, cautious, and still figuring out the routines of the coop, but they’re getting bolder all the time.

No names yet. We’re waiting to see who they become first.

Meet the Rest of the Flock

There’s more to Beaird Farms than the girls you’ve already met.
At the cabin, six chickens and five ducks make up their own little crew, while our Tiny Treasures quail are part of the flock elsewhere on the farm.

The Cabin Chickens

Six chickens who call the Strawberry cabin home.

The Duck Crew

Five ducks with their own personalities and plenty of opinions.

Coturnix Quail_edited.jpg

Tiny Treasures Quail

Our quail crew includes both Coturnix and Celadon quail, each adding their own tiny bit of personality to Beaird Farms. Small birds, lots of character, and some especially pretty eggs.

Walter

And then there’s Walter. Our Black Copper Marans rooster is still growing into his role as the flock’s leading man, but he already knows how to make an entrance. Handsome, watchful, and just a little dramatic, Walter keeps an eye on the girls, practices his crowing, and adds plenty of personality to the cabin coop. He may be outnumbered, but he definitely isn’t overlooked.
